I'm off!  I'll be in the airport at 8pm and the flight leaves at 10pm.  By 8am tomorrow I'll be in San Juan, Puerto Rico!  Here is my travel outfit:
CIMG3987
glasses-BCBG Max Azria (so I can sleep on the plane)
jacket-Calvin Klein (because the planes and NY will be chilly, plus it's rainy here)
sweater-American Eagle (the only long sleeve shirt I'm taking)
jeans-Gap (only pair I'm taking)
shoes-Converse (stylish, comfortable shoes)
bag-gift (boutique in Denver)
I have a tank top to slip into upon arrival, and I'll stash my coat!
CIMG3985
I'll be reading my early Christmas gift! What the Dog Saw by Malcolm Gladwell, so excited!
CIMG3988
Hope I don't get bored in the airport...
And now...
You don't think I'd forget my faithful followers while I'm away!  I'll be picking up one or two special somethings from Puerto Rico for a lucky follower!  To enter:
1) You must be a follower
2) You must leave a comment about your holiday plans or a favorite holiday memory.
Unfortunately if you are related to me and also going to Puerto Rico, you may not enter. Ahem, sorry Nina.
Don't forget me!  I'll be back in January 2010!
Please enjoy yourselves this Holiday Season,
Much Love,
Liz

in my suitcase-puerto rico

I'm done with packing!  With time to spare!  Impressive, I know.  I planned for about two weeks of clean clothes, so that I can repeat throughout the month or have some tops to spare for after swimming/hiking, etc.  Well here is a peak at what I packed for a month in Puerto Rico:
CIMG3944
A black dress and an orange dress.  Easy one-piece outfits.
CIMG3946
My black ruffle skirt, a green mini, a denim mini, white shorts, and brown shorts.  All neutrals to easily pair with colorful tops.
CIMG3948
Colorful tops-3 reddish tones and 3 bluish tones, no real reason except for me to not stress out while packing!  I chose two colors and picked 3 summer tops that I'd like to wear.
CIMG3949
My neutral tops- both dark and light.  Including my new favorite LOFT t-shirt!
CIMG3955
Shoes! Sneakers for hiking, Converse for more stylish traveling, Birkenstocks for comfortable warm-weather walking, the most awesome and versatile gladiators, some "fancier" flats, and gold sandals. Oh, and the best slippers in the world, simply because I love them!
CIMG3961

Accessories- Ignore the sunhat, I realized the shape truly was lost since I dropped it in the ocean at Canon Beach.  I stuck with yellow or neutral jewelry so that I wouldn't have to worry with matching it to my outfits.
CIMG3963
Swimsuits- a purple bikini, navy tankini, and maroon tankini.  I plan to be wearing these a lot ;)
I have a few more photos on Flickr, if you are curious.  And of course I've packed underwear, socks, towels, etc etc.  Oh I did forget to photograph my denim jacket, and short-sleeved safari jacket, just in case of inclement weather, but you can imagine.
I plan on taking at least one daily outfit shot along with the normal vacation pictures, and I'll compile them into a weekly collage to share in January!  I have a special post tomorrow so stay tuned!

p-town

Went to Portland today to finish (ahem start!) my Christmas shopping!  I totally spaced and forgot my camera! Argh.  I did go though, and got everything I needed for the ones I love at Powell's, if you are ever in Portland you better go there! Here is what I wore:
CIMG3968
trench-Old Navy
necklace-recycled silk necklace from a boutique in Portland
sweater-H & M
jeans-Gap
flats-Avon
Pretty simple.  Not much to say about it.

2010 shoe lust

So I accomplished a lot of packing tonight.  Just have to do a double-check and pack toiletries, carry-on etc.  Phew, almost time to go relax!  I took some photos of what I'm taking and will be sure to share before I leave.  Anyway, I worked on a Polyvore set, just as a break, and I came up with some shoes that I will be looking for (or lusting after) in 2010:

I already have black dress heels, but would love to rock some ankle booties.  I have a pair of trusty black flats as well, but every now and then they need a rest! Black sandals for summer are essential no?  Every girl should have red shoes!  There is a Dorothy in all of use :)  I currently only have some cheap kitten heels from Payless, but they are so uncomfortable that I need something of a little better quality.  Oh and neutral!  I definitely need to replace my gold flats and sandals, and would love to own a pair of nude heels to wear with jeans or dresses! P.S. They are all under $50, minus the nude heels!
What pieces will you be looking to add to your wardrobe in 2010?

layers

Well today was rather productive.  I cleaned 1/2 the apartment and did a lot of laundry.  Now the real packing can begin!  Just watched the film Big Fish (sniff, sniff) it's so sweet, I recommend it.  Here is what I wore today, a little dressed up for cleaning the shower and getting groceries, but that's just how I roll...
CIMG3932
CIMG3935
CIMG3937
Wearing:
trench-Old Navy
sweater coat-Kohl's
top-Kohl's
jeans-Gap
shoes-Payless
It was overcast so of course I was going to wear my trench!  However, it was so chilly that I needed another layer, enter this sweater!  I pulled the collar up and over the trench for a new look.  You like?
P.S. I think I need new jeans in 2010, those knees are looking faded...

video success???

I think it worked this time!  Check it out:

What do you think?

video fail

Oh dear.  Well I was excited to be a Vlogger, but for some reason Youtube turned my 90 second video into this:

How sad.  I've been trying to fix it all day, but am out of energy.  Maybe next time...
Well here is what I wore today:

So we finally made it back to Vancouver.  Chris is so much better!  Thanks for all the encouragement!  We made the four hour drive today but before we left we just had to stop by our favorite pizzeria, Sweet Basil.

hair styling

Aspiring Fashionista recently asked, "Do you curl your hair, or is it natural? I'm looking into buying a curling iron to break my flat iron rut and could use some suggestions."  What a great question! From a fabulous blogger!  Go check her out, I love her "Get This Look" posts, and her amazing taste in fashion, go visit!  Okay now to the answer, I am lucky enough to have naturally waving hair, so some days I won't do anything at all!  When I want more defined curls or a sleeker look, I get some help from these guys.  (Click on picture to go to Target website.)
Product Image
I have a straightener very similar to this (I think it's a tad smaller), it has the digital temperature and whatnot.  I like it but will one day own a CHI!
Product Image
The best advice I learned from a hairdresser is to curl your hair using a straight iron!  Crazy I know, but if you use a small 1/2 inch or 3/4  inch straightener and pretend it's a curling iron, you'll get amazing curls that don't look like Shirley Temple.  It's a much more natural look, and one that I use very often.

Product Image
Some days I do want some big Shirley Temple locks and that's when I use this standard curling iron.
As you can see I use pretty cheap tools, but that's because my wavy hair provides a good base!  Aspiring Fashionista: Try curling with a straight iron, you might be surprised how much you like it!  Maybe before I leave I'll do a post on hair product, because I'm a Redken worshiper!
Thanks again for the question and keep them coming!

As you can see I had to resort to borrowing things from my mom's closet since I only packed clothes for 3 days and we've been here 7. I felt very christmas chic :)
No fabulous photographer Chris to take my photos today. He is doing much better though, and we are heading back home tomorrow! Thanks for all the get well wishes.

A polyvore inspired by the designers at Puerto Rico High Fashion Week.  I'm thinking I should pack a lot of brights!

P.S. Just realized that black bangle is a napkin ring from Crate & Barrel OOPS!

where i'm going...

Considering I leave for Christmas break in less than I week, I suppose I should inform you on where I'll be spending the next month!  First some clues, by way of the country's Spring/Summer 2010 High Fashion Week (click on designer name for original photo).

These are photos from Puerto Rico's High Fashion Week in San Juan, Puerto Rico!  My family has decided to spend our holidays on a tropical island! I'm excited, to say the least.  I've never spent a Christmas somewhere warm, and none of us have ever been to Puerto Rico, so we are looking forward to exploring the island and lazing around on the beach, all while looking good :)
In regards to holiday postings.  There will likely be none.  However, I encourage you to explore the blogs on my blogroll, they are all fantastic!  When I return in January I'll have a lot to update on, so please come back!
That's all for now, I need to finish a paper for class.
P.S. Isn't it great to see these models with real bodies? They look amazing and realistic!
Which is your favorite look/designer?

second update

Wow.  It's already Tuesday.  Well Chris's recovery has been really tough, and he isn't quite better yet but he's getting there.  Taking care of him has been my main concern, and I can't even think about cute clothes or shopping.  Since we've had to stay in Walla Walla longer than planned, I don't have anything close to great outfit shots, since the weather has taken a turn for the worse (forget the skirt and tights I packed) it was 3 degrees this morning!  I've been grabbing any layer of clothing possible and piling it on to stay warm.  I have yet to master chic "i'm freezing my butt off" outfits, maybe next year.
Well I'll post something fun when I get the time...
Thanks for all the get well comments and for sticking with me this week!

surgery update

Hello lovelies,
I just wanted to say that posts this weekend may be sporadic at best.  Chris had all 4 impacted wisdom teeth out at 2pm today.  On a scale of difficulty from 1-10 the oral surgeon rated his a 10.  He is going to be very swollen and in a lot of pain for most of the weekend.  I am probably barely going to leave his side and baby him as much as possible.  Any positive thoughts towards his quick recovery would be appreciated, we are all a little stressed and worried.
Lizzy
p.s. thanks 11 awesome followers
p.p.s. thanks for all the sweet comments

in my suitcase-walla walla

In my suitcase
I'm off to Walla Walla for the weekend. Considered by some to be "a city so nice they named it twice" or "a tiny, nothing to do, claustrophobic, everyone know's everyone, in the middle of nowhere kind of town." Okay it's not that bad, but I did move away for a reason. We are going because Chris has his wisdom teeth surgery :( and also to visit my parents and friends. Here is the bulk of what I'm planning to pack: (knowing me I'll throw in a few more things last minute for fear of not having anything to wear)
black jacket-Calvin Klein
jean jacket-Gap
scarf-JCPenney
black skirt-Target
skinny jeans-JCPenney
gray top-Forever21
cream turtleneck-Forever21
blue cowlneck sweater-Elle (Kohl's)
black tights-???
green tights-???
bracelet-gift
headband-Mark (Avon)
necklace-Kohl's
I'm also taking my black riding boots and satin pleat flats (both from Avon). Hope you don't get sick of the black skirt! I am so in love with it, I want to wear it everyday, but I won't! Off to bed...leaving at 6 AM tomorrow...eek!

teal and yellow

So I'm really liking the quality of the Flickr photos but am still new to it all, so be patient!
and yellow shoes equals perfection in my book!
plus a teal scarf
Favorite ruffle skirt
Wearing
denim jacket-stolen from sister (originally from Gap)
sweater-H&M
skirt-Target
tights-???
shoes-Rocket Dog
watch-my dad's
I wanted to wear my new skirt again but played around with an all black outfit and added teal and yellow for some excitement!  I love mixing bold colors like this!  The jacket was for some warmth and also to offset the feminine ruffles!

topshop wishlist

I did a little wishlisting on polyvore today!  Here are some great under $50 finds!

I don't own many gloves, but I think these studded gray ones would add some rock and roll to any outfit!
The little beanie is so cute and slouchy, perfect for chilly mornings!
Since I'll have to wear studs for the next six months and I love owls these would add a dash of quirkiness to a boring Monday!
I really need more belts, and a black one with lion heads sounds pretty amazing!
I love cocktail rings and I love this great papaya color, yummy!
Flats, flats, flats, my heart's desire, gray with a girly bow sounds perfect for me!
These are some great gift ideas for the upcoming holidays, either for someone you love or yourself ;)

test-test-test

Outfit 12/2/09, originally uploaded by lizzypunch.
This is a test to see if Flickr photos show up with a higher resolution!  I think it looks pretty good!  That fuzziness was really bugging me!  Okay I'll use this now, thanks for putting up with the poor photos!

Ok so today's outfit might be my favorite to date:

Hence the X-Large photos!

Wearing
headband-the Liberty (boutique in Walla Walla, WA)
pashmina-Macy's
jacket-Forever21
top-LOFT (my new favorite top!)

Notice how I'm getting into the whole "pictures for the blog" poses.  Pigeon toed? Check! Looking down? Check  Haha I'm having fun!  Hey it's Wednesday, which means it's practically the weekend, yippee!
